McKennie will start a new chapter of his career with Leeds and is in line to make his debut this weekend against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. He joined Juventus from Schalke on loan in the 2020-21 season. Juventus made the loan permanent and signed the player on a four-year contract.

However, things were not going well for the midfielder, with his game time going down. It was a result of injuries and inconsistent form. McKennie was out for three months at the end of last season after suffering a metatarsal injury. New manager Allegri was not keen on using him more this season. He was looking for a way out to play more, and Leeds got their man on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Leeds signed the 24-year-old midfielder from the Serie A giants Juventus on a six-month loan deal. The fee for the loan deal will be $1.6 million. However, the deal also includes an option to buy the player for $37 million.

The buy option will become mandatory if McKennie plays ten games in the remainder of the season and Leeds United avoids relegation. They are currently 15th with only one point clear of the relegation zone. It will be interesting to see how McKennie fits in this Leeds United side, and whether he helps them to avoid relegation or not.
