Speaking on the Ben Heath podcast, Wes Brown said, “You don’t need all that, not at all. But listen, that’s how he felt he needed to do it.”

“Ronnie [Cristiano Ronaldo], alongside Messi, these sort of players can pretty much do what they want, in that sense. It’s a sad ending because everyone as glad to see him back,” Brown further added.
