However, he retired as his nation’s all-time top-scorer with 53 goals. Rooney has recently made the headlines after being called out by his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. Rooney later came up with a classy response and said that CR7 is a ‘fantastic’ player.

The build-up to the World Cup has been incredible, with fans and pundits already predicting the outcomes of the mega-event. Rooney, who is the coach of MLS’s DC United, predicted a thrashing of USMNT at the hands of England.
