PSG’s greatest-ever goalscorer, Kylian Mbappe, is likely to leave the club in the summer. However, coach Luis Enrique doesn’t seem to be interested in tributes. In the 64th minute of Le Classique yesterday, the Spanish boss shocked everyone by withdrawing the French winger for Goncalo Ramos. Mbappe was equally surprised and disappointed at the decision, and in his long walk back, he seemed to utter words that felt like insulting remarks addressed to his coach. Now, Luis Enrique has offered his response to the same.

In the post-match presser, Luis Enrique was asked whether he was aware of Kylian Mbappe’s alleged insult. The Spaniard took a pause and then said, “I didn’t see anything. Nothing at all.” Perhaps the Spaniard was fed up with the questions regarding his treatment of the PSG ace. Notably, Enrique had told Prime Video, “It’s tiring. I’m the coach; I make decisions every day. And that’s what I’m going to do until my last day at PSG. I always try to find the best solution for Paris. Sometimes I can be wrong, but those are my choices.

However, in this particular instance, Enrique’s decision proved to be spot on. Kylian Mbappe’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos, scored in the 85th minute to cement victory for his side. Strikingly, this is not the first time Enrique has withdrawn the Frenchman in the middle of the game.

With PSG still hoping to convince Kylian Mbappe to extend his stay in Paris, Enrique’s treatment of the star is baffling. Also, with 38 goals this season, Mbappe has been a sensational performer for the side. Hence, the Spaniard’s management of the star points in one direction.

Has Luis Enrique failed to change Kylian Mbappe’s mind?

Recently, Enrique made a surprising comment on Kylian Mbappe’s future at PSG. He had said, “I still hope that Kylian changes his mind. He hasn’t said anything at the moment; he can change his opinion. Let’s imagine that we win all four titles this season and that Kylian makes his decision at the last moment—that his place is in Paris. Why not? We’ll see.” However, a new transfer update has emerged that seemingly would have crushed the manager’s hopes.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has recently confirmed that there has been no change of mind as far as Kylian Mbappe is concerned. Additionally, the PSG winger is said to be in ‘advanced talks‘ with Los Blancos. Hence, it seems likely that the club could be preparing for life without the World Cup winner. That could explain Enrique’s unexpected Mbappe substitutions.
