Despite mulling an early retirement, Toni Kroos extended his Real Madrid stay by a year in 2023. This July, he could enter his 10th year with the club! He is the most-capped German player in Los Blancos history with 447 appearances. Kroos’ contract expires this summer, and he has not decided if he should extend his stay one more time or not. At this juncture, Italian powerhouse Juventus has unexpectedly entered the race to secure the German’s signature.
As per Diario AS, Juventus aims to land Toni Kroos, should he opt for an immediate exit from Real Madrid. Reportedly, intermediaries also initiated talks with Juve to propose a deal for the possible free agent. The Turin-based club is still recovering from its financial losses and hence cannot spend heavily. Notably, Kroos is the highest earner in Real Madrid, in terms of weekly wages. Moreover, Juve is aware that another 1-year contract extension could be on the cards in Madrid. The rumor mill understands that the Italian giant also eyes Lazio’s Felipe Anderson and Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.

Real Madrid has already built a strong midfield, equipped to pursue battles without Toni Kroos. Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni- all youngsters make up this star midfield. Bellingham has turned out to be a generational star signing, dominating the team’s offense with 14 goals. Hence, it is highly likely that Kroos will ask for a move out of Madrid and make complete room for these youngsters. Meanwhile, the veteran could also miss some crucial upcoming Madrid clashes because of injury concerns.
