The growth of soccer in the USA has been commendable, to say the least. But speaking about USMNT in particular, their consistent title wins in the last few years have been a testimony of their progress. The Yanks once again won the CONCACAF Nations League against a formidable Mexican team in the final, and this achievement cannot stop the praises from flowing. This time, even a rival star, Hirving Lozano, revealed the reason why USMNT rose to such heights in the last few years and expects Mexico to do the same.

Mexico’s men’s team, on the other hand, can count itself unfortunate. Despite being recognized as the strongest soccer nation in the region, it has not been able to cross the river when it comes to titles. Hence, Lozano mentions the USA’s exposure as the main reason for its rise. According to reports, he said, “The United States has grown a lot. They have a lot of players in important clubs in important leagues. Unfortunately for Mexico, we don’t at this moment,” citing Mexico’s drawback.

Mexico has not been able to ace bigger tournaments. They had a disappointing World Cup campaign, as they were knocked out of the competition in the group stages. Despite being able to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup 12 times and also a FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999, would like to see an upgrade such as the USA.

Meanwhile, many Mexican players playing in Liga MX instead of prominent leagues around the world is a crucial hurdle felt the winger. Lozano also plays for Eredivisie toppers, PSV Eindhoven. Apart from him, only a few players, including Guillermo Ochoa, Santiago Giménez, and Edson Alvarez, are part of the major European Leagues. But the star wants his band of brothers to be a part of foreign competitions.

Meanwhile, USMNT boasts of players who play in reputed leagues in Europe. Stars Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Matt Turner, and Ricardo Pepi have already made their mark for their respective clubs. With an improved squad, USMNT would like to make it count in the upcoming COPA America.
