Cristiano Ronaldo struggled to make an impact as Al Nassr was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Persepolis F.C. However, the real scare for the fans came as the Portuguese received treatment on his neck. Hours after the game, the club’s manager Luis Castro provided a fairly positive update on the soccer icon after his awkward injury.

This injury comes ahead of their much-awaited and super-important clash against rivals Al Hilal. The Saudi giants will certainly hope that Cristiano Ronaldo makes a goal-scoring impact, however, to do that he needs to be fit.

Al Nassr managed to hold on to a draw in the Persepolis game after their defender Ali Lajami received a red card in the 17th minute. However, the biggest escape they had was with their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward suffered discomfort in his neck after he collided with the Persepolis goalkeeper.

Manager Luis Castro speaking on the injury, said, “The medical staff will study Cristiano’s injury. The medical staff will do its job of recovering and making him ready for the next match.”

At the moment, the statement from the boss indicates that CR7 has not suffered a serious injury. When he was leaving the field, the Portuguese forward did not look too uncomfortable. The medical team also provided him with immediate assistance as he came off the field. The decision to substitute him has turned out to be a smart move by the manager. It is because their next match is a very important one.

Al Nassr will now face league leaders Al Hilal on Friday. The game is away from home. The Riyadh-based club will aim to dominate the match in the early stages to take advantage of their rival’s jam-packed schedule. Al Nassr played their AFC Champions League game one day earlier while Al Hilal plays their game today. That marks an extra day of rest, which could be an advantage for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.

On the other hand, Al Hilal is in a world of its own at the moment. The club has not lost a match yet. This is despite their injury issues to their star player Neymar. Their goal scorers have managed to keep up the brilliant form. Just recently, they humiliated bottom-ranked side Al Hazem 9-0. They also remain four points clear of Al Nassr at the top.
