Before arriving at Villa Park, Moussa Diaby had a significant impact at Bayer Leverkusen. Known to have pace and dribbling as his main weapons, the star credits Kylian Mbappe by saying, “He told me ‘You have to use your speed’. I tried to use his advice, and I have improved. You have to learn when you need to use it. The older you get, the more you know your body and mind. He helped me with my positioning and also to give me confidence to attack with my quality”, as compiled by the Guardian. It looks like the French captain could mentor since his younger days. The duo played together for PSG in the 2018–2019 season. The club wasn’t the only similar thing between the two.

Being of the same age, both of them play in the same position on the left wing, and both play for France together. And that would have made it easier for Kylian Mbappe to assess and advise his former PSG teammate. Diaby could not win a major trophy in Germany, but scored 49 times and assisted 48 in 172 games there. However, the player has yet to make a solid mark in England.
