Kylian Mbappe is currently gearing up for the upcoming UEFA Euro qualifier matches. Just in a few hours, France is set to face the Netherlands, and then on 17th October, they face Scotland in an international friendly. However, as he focuses on securing victories for his national team, his club team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has come under fire from a familiar source – La Liga president Javier Tebas.

The controversial feud between Tebas and PSG has been ongoing for quite some time. Tebas has repeatedly accused PSG and its Qatari owners of violating European soccer’s financial regulations. In response, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has staunchly defended the club’s financial practices and questioned the integrity of Spanish soccer.

The latest chapter in this ongoing feud unfolded at the Festival dello Sport. Speaking at the event organized by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tebas praised the economic model of Spanish soccer. Simultaneously, he also undermined PSG and made fun of their financial losses.

In his speech, Tebas remarked, “We all know that PSG lost €605M ($637M). Perhaps if there was a tournament to waste money, PSG would win it”.

This remark was a bold swipe at the Parisians, who are known for their extravagant spending habits. PSG, as one of the biggest spenders in European soccer, has faced scrutiny for its financial practices in the past. With the signings of superstars like Neymar Jr. and Mbappe, the club has become a target for critics who believe they are inflating the transfer market.

Tebas, representing the interests of Spanish clubs, has been at the forefront of this criticism. It is most likely this remark by the Spanish League boss won’t go unnoticed by Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Despite this, Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire next summer, which means he will be free to make a move and could potentially join Los Blancos. La Liga president Javier Tebas also weighed in on this possibility, stating in a previous interview, “Kylian Mbappé will be in La Liga next year. The probability is 70% – 80%”. It will be fascinating to see how this situation unfolds.
