The soccer world has been busy giving nicknames to the American frontline. Former USWNT star Christen Press dubbed them “triple trouble.” And Sophia Smith is more than ready to live up to this name in the final, as she vows to trouble Brazilian defenders.

Team USA’s front three gave an iconic yet fun-filled presser on Thursday in Paris, before the Brazil game. During the interview, Rodman herself nicknamed the frontline ‘Triple Espresso.’ And Smith is ready to serve Marta and Co. a strong espresso, it seems.

Sophia Smith has just set the stage brilliantly for the Olympic final, as Team USA eyes its record fifth gold medal and Brazil aims to clinch its first.

Trinity Rodman is one of the many young women’s soccer stars who have grown up watching Brazil’s Marta. Now that the great Brazilian has her swan song in Paris, Rodman revealed how much she looks up to her. “Marta has changed the game of soccer around the world,” said Rodman.

However, the Washington Spirit star soon stated that her love for Marta wouldn’t stop her from trying to beat her idol.

“But yeah, we want that gold. I love her, but we want to win,” Rodman added. Meanwhile, Sophia Smith echoed Rodman’s desire for the high prize, as she wanted to gift herself an Olympic gold on her 24th birthday.

“We want to leave with gold. We’ve made it so far, we’ve worked so hard. We’ve put in so much work every single game and we don’t want to leave with anything less than that. And it’s my birthday! It would be the best birthday present,” said Smith.
