Fans’ opinion has become a bit more polarized on Cristiano Ronaldo ever since he signed a 200 million USD deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. He still boasts arguably the biggest fan following in the soccer world. But, he lost a significant chunk of the fanbase. There are many reasons behind this decline. However, the most prominent ones are, him leaving Manchester United after a bit of chaos and going to Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo was going through one of the biggest scoring droughts his career has ever seen. Back-to-back failures have changed public opinion on his skills. However, after spending some time in Saudi Arabia, it seems like his mojo is back. He is back in the form of single-handedly winning matches for his team. Now that he is back, one of his former teammates has demanded fans pay respect to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Talking about Ronaldo’s recent reign of terror in EURO qualifiers, one of his teammates has spoken about how he needs to be respected more. Cristiano has gone on a scoring spree single-handedly talking Portugal to win.

In a talk with Spanish media, Vitorino Antunes said, “The Portuguese people should be grateful and cherish and enjoy Ronaldo as long as he continues to play football. He has given a lot to Portuguese football and the national team, but we continue trampling and looking down on what is ours and envying what belongs to our neighbor.”

Clearly, he has found it confusing that Ronaldo is facing the backlash despite performing exceptionally well for Al-Nassr and for Portugal.

Taking a pause of club soccer European national teams played a couple of matches in each of the EURO qualifiers. Everybody had expected Portugal to win both of their matches as they played Lichtenstein and Luxembourg. But, no fan was ready for the absolute show Cristiano Ronaldo was about to put on.
