It was a family affair on the soccer pitch recently, as Selena Gomez and Nicola Peltz turned out to support Brooklyn Beckham in a friendly match. Brooklyn, who is the eldest son of the legendary soccer star David Beckham also wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.

However, the 23-year-old retired early in 2015 in his youth days only, to pursue other passions. Brooklyn, however, still plays some friendly matches occasionally. And in a recent friendly Brooklyn was being supported by his wife and American actress, Nicola Peltz.

Selena Gomez showed up to support Brooklyn

To accompany her friend Selena Gomez along with her younger sister, Gracie was also present to support Brooklyn in the match. In a funny TikTok video from the match, Peltz can be seen asking a tired-looking Gomez what she’s doing. “I’m watching Brooklyn play baseball,” Gomez replies with Peltz having a laugh.

Despite the star power in the stands, Brooklyn’s team ended up losing the match. “We lost but I’m pretty sure it was rigged,” Selena said after the game, showing her sense of humor. The Pop star shares a good relationship with both Brooklyn and Nicola. The trio also spends their New Year celebrations together in Mexico.

David Beckham revealed why Brooklyn Beckham retired from Soccer

Brooklyn Beckham announced his retirement from soccer in 2015 at the age of sixteen. The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham was part of the Arsenal Youth Academy but was released by the team and wasn’t offered a scholarship. Brooklyn had the option to switch to another team, but instead, he called it quits from soccer.

David Beckham revealed the reason behind his decision in an interview in 2015. He said, “One of my boys turned around to me the other day and said, ‘Daddy, I’m not sure I want to play football all the time'”. He further added, “It broke my heart a little bit.Every time I step on to the field, I know people are saying, This is David Beckham’s son,’ and if I am not as good as you, then it is not good enough'”.
