The choices presented to him were nothing short of intriguing: Messi or Ronaldo, Kane or Salah, but the one that truly piqued everyone’s interest was Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

Ferdinand was pressed with the question: “Mbappe or Haaland, who are we picking here?” He didn’t hold back, and responded, “Haaland has done some crazy numbers last year. I think when their careers are over, Haaland will be the more devastating goal scorer, but, Mbappe will be the better all-round player.”

Ferdinand is right to say that Mbappe is the more complete player. Mbappe is a better dribbler, passer, and creator than Haaland. He is also more versatile, as he can play on either wing or as a central striker. However, Erling Haaland is a more natural goal-scorer than Mbappe. With his strong aerial abilities, the Norwegian is more clinical in front of goal.

The former Manchester United defender’s comments encapsulate the essence of a budding rivalry between the star strikers. As we move on with the Messi and Ronaldo rivalry, there is a new young duel that fans will hopefully enjoy and look forward to in the coming decade.
