The public controversy between Shakira and Gerard Pique seems like a never-ending one. Currently, the Waka–Waka singer is in Costa Rica with her children on a summer vacation. But the singer’s name still reflects beside the name of her ex-boyfriend on news headlines. Most recently, the FC Barcelona legend banned his ex’s music for his younger brother’s wedding.

Over the years, the soccer veteran has been firm about a few things. Unfortunately, all the hidden truths about his former relationship are surfacing after it has ended. Years ago, the singer shockingly revealed that Pique did not allow her to shoot with men.

On May 24, Marc Pique tied the knot with Maria Valls. Marc Pique is the FC Barcelona legend’s younger brother. On that same day, Pique was reportedly going to announce his engagement date with Clara Chia Marti. But no news regarding the announcement has surfaced on the internet yet. Other than that, a not-so-surprising piece of information has come to the forefront.

Reports claim that the retired defender and his girlfriend made a major request. They didn’t want any of Shakira’s songs to be played during the family function. In short, he banned his ex-girlfriend’s music from Marc’s wedding. Possibly out of respect and politeness because it was a major family get-together. But the Colombian icon also caused a mini tornado just days before the wedding.

That’s because she did not allow her kids to attend it. Milan and Sasha were spending time with their paternal side in Barcelona. But the retired defender had to drop them back before June 24. He asked his ex-partner for an extension but she reportedly did not even consider it. She didn’t want her little ones to come across Clara Chia Marti.

This isn’t the first time the two of them had a bit of public friction. Back in 2014, the Latin American singer dropped a bomb on the fanbase. She revealed that Pique had forbidden her from shooting with other male music artists.

Shakira’s most recent music video ‘Copa Vacia’ is alongside Manuel Turizo. Her first diss track this year was in collaboration with Argentine DJ Bizarrap. After breaking up with Pique, the Colombian icon has basically done what she always wanted to. But she never always had such freedom. Back in 2014, she revealed, “He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men”, as compiled by Daily Mail.

“Well, I have to do them with women. It’s more than implied in our relationship that I can’t do videos like I used to. It’s out of the question which I like, by the way”. The Spanish soccer legend was seemingly only comfortable with Rihanna. Shakira continued, “I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna”.
