Even while boasting an impressive resume as one of the greatest defenders of all time, Sergio Ramos has garnered some infamy in the soccer world for his on-field antics. The veteran rarely thought twice before verbally or even physically confronting rivals on the pitch. Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s Ali Al-Bulaihi is now the talk of the town in soccer circles for his reckless on-court conduct, including a fierce verbal confrontation with Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Apparently, some believe the Al Hilal star has channelized his inner Sergio Ramos.

In a recent episode of ESPN FC’s ‘The Gab and Juls Show,’ analysts Gabrielle Marcotti and Julien Laurens weighed in on Al Hilal’s 3-0 win against Al Nassr. Unsurprisingly, Marcotti gave his take on the match’s hot topic- Al Bulaihi’s antics. “Not content with jabbering at Cristiano throughout the game, at the end when Mitrovic goes 3-0, he[Al-Bulaihi] goes over to the Al Nassr fans, and he does the crying gesture. They’re all shouting ‘Ronaldo,’ and he’s making fun of Ronaldo. Honestly, this guy like, you want villain footballer, it’s him. Like it’s Sergio Ramos to the nth dimension,” said Gabrielle Marcotti.

While the Saudi defender’s gestures reminded Marcotti of Sergio Ramos, he was quick to address how Ramos begged to differ. “The difference is I think Sergio Ramos respects supporters. This guy evidently doesn’t. Honestly, not my favorite guy in the world,” Marcotti added. If the Al Hilal star’s attitude to the crowd left Marcotti unimpressed, it was his constant trash-talking to Ronaldo that incensed the soccer fans. When Cristiano Ronaldo confronted the match referee alleging biased refereeing, Al-Bulaihi interfered and went ballistic at the 38-year-old. Ronaldo, however, maintained his cool during the altercation.

Since deciding to let his temper loose on the field, Al-Bulaihi has been facing consequences from all sides. In the very game, he got expelled after seeing a red card for taunting Al Nassr fans towards the end of the game. Now, another consequence awaits the Saudi veteran.

Saudi Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee will reportedly suspend Ali Al-Bulaihi for one match. Apparently, the 34-year-old won’t play for Al Hilal in their next matchup with Al Tai. Meanwhile, Al-Bulaihi himself might take legal action against fans for severe online insults after he taunted Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr fans.
