Some sports stars are much more than just sports players. Apart from their consistent performances on the pitch, their work off the pitch also delights every fan. One such individual is Patrick Mahomes. The American quarterback is currently a Kansas City Chiefs player in the NFL.

The fans recognize Mahomes for the investments he makes back into sports. Earlier today, NWSL soccer side, Kansas City Current made an announcement that got a smile on every soccer fan’s face. Along with his wife, the NFL star is now the co-owner of Kansas City Current. As expected, Mahomes received a warm welcome from the fans.

Patrick Mahomes is now the co-owner of Kansas City Current!

Kansas City Current is one of those clubs that have a very tightly-knit fanbase. These fans share every happy and sad moment together. A prime example is when the club announced that Mahomes would be a new co-owner. The majority of the fans could not contain their excitement. They were delighted to welcome the NFL star on board.

However, Patrick Mahomes is already part of the Kansas City community because he plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. Hence, the NFL star did not need to be introduced. Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes is currently also one of the co-owners of the women’s soccer club. In 2020, Brittany Mahomes purchased a stake that made the club’s ownership female-heavy.

Apart from receiving a hearty welcome, the fans also appreciated the NFL star’s gesture to invest his money into women’s soccer.

Patrick Mahomes was more than happy to join the Current family. Mahomes told the club’s media, “I am thankful for the chance to join my wife as part of the Kansas City Current’s ownership team. Brittany and the Longs have done an incredible job building a world-class organization. I am excited to join another championship-caliber club as it continues to make history”.

Current co-owners also publicly expressed their happiness. Brittany Mahomes said, “He (Patrick) has been a huge supporter behind-the-scene. His passion for the Current is undeniable and I am glad that he will be with us as we continue on our journey to become the best in the NWSL.”

Kansas City Current had a mind-blowing 2022 season in the NWSL. The club finished 5 on the points table, which meant they were eligible for the playoffs. Current went through all the way to the finals but unfortunately lost that game against the Portland Thorns. The last season was a massive upgrade as compared to when the club finished last in 2021.

However, Kansas City Current has already started their preparation for the 2023 NWSL season. A few days ago, Current revealed their newly signed midfielder. The club managed to poach Brazilian free agent, Debinha on a two-year deal.
