Recently, Christen Press who plays for Serena Williams’ Angel City FC made a few important admissions about women’s soccer.
She spoke about the importance of promoting the sport among local communities. The USWNT star then revealed that her NWSL club also shares a similar vision together striving for the success of the sport.

Christen Press will sadly not be part of the upcoming World Cup squad due to an injury. Several young players including the likes of Alyssa Thompson, Trinity Rodman, Naomi Girma, and many more are on the USWNT roster. But Press won’t stop supporting her national team in any case. The former Manchester United striker is in full favor of locally promoting soccer in America.
The women’s counterpart of the sport has just started to gain some attention. Encouraging young girls to have a sports career would be a step in the right direction. Recently, Press spoke about the same in an interview. She also revealed how she and Serena Williams’ Angel City FC are aligned on the same objective. She said, “It means everything. It’s the reason that I’m home”.

“I wanted to join a club that had shared values. And being in my home vocal community and being able to give back and being able to give joy to Angelenos means the world to me”. In the past, Angel City’s co-owner Alexis Ohanian has spoken about the rising market for women’s soccer. He once revealed his ambitions to make Angel City FC the best sports franchise in the world.
That long-term objective would also help the NWSL gain an immense level of popularity. Apart from that, the women’s World Cup is almost underway. The USWNT who are favorites could walk away with a gigantic prize.

USWNT could win the Women’s World Cup again!
At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, every player from the USWNT squad could win a huge cash prize. If the US manages to win the World Cup for the third time, they will additionally cash out a $270k cash prize. In many cases, these high prizes will surpass the weekly wage of many players at the club level. In the last few years itself, women’s soccer players have stood up for themselves.

Since 2019, the USWNT players raised a major issue with the US Soccer board. That is because they noticed a gigantic difference in the wages of the USMNT and USWNT. And rightly so, the board pumped in more money towards the women’s counterpart of the game. Without a doubt, women’s soccer is on the rise and locally promoting the sport like Christen Press said is a key step.
