Neal Maupay, the feisty forward for Everton, has been linked with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. This analogy came after his antics in a recent match against Arsenal in the Premier League. On Saturday, shocking scenes unfolded at Goodison Park when the relegation-fighting team Everton defeated table-leader Arsenal 1-0.

The match was filled with frustration for Arsenal, with several decisions going against them. Things only worsened when Neal Maupay came off the bench in the second half. Neal is known for his ability to rattle Arsenal on several past occasions. Being a hated face in the Arsenal camp, he certainly did not disappoint in this match.

Maupay likened to Ric Flair after the Arsenal match

In the 94th minute, with Everton looking to eye victory and Arsenal pushing for an equalizer, Maupay decided to take an opportunity and rattle Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko. He did so by coming in his way, off the ball, and acting like he was fouled by the Arsenal star. This angered Zinchenko and a brawl played out between players of both sides. This resulted in both the stars getting booked.

The Men In Blazers podcast on Twitter likened him to Ric Flair, noting how both Flair and Maupay are known for their ability to overact. “Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the Maupay ends and the Ric Flair begins,” the tweet said.
