Arsenal surely haven’t been one of the top teams in the English Premier League for a while now. While last season the team did show some signs of progress under new manager Mikel Arteta, the Londoners still couldn’t finish among the top 6.

The club took some major strides last season. Selling off against veterans in defense like Sokratis and Mustafi, the Gunners brought in younger defensive talents like Gabriel. While the Brazilian excelled as a starting center back, there was no fixed center back pairing alongside him.
