Spanish serial winners Real Madrid are one such club who gave Lewandowski a real thought. While their current striker, Karim Benzema, is doing wonders, Lewandowski was a transfer target for years. Former Bayern Munich player and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed how he convinced Lewa to stay at Bayern in an interview with German newspaper Bild.
“Lewandowski is a goal-scoring machine. He came to flirt with Real Madrid in his day. But we always told him: you can also win the Champions League with Bayern Munich,” he said. The former CEO’s words rang true as Bayern did end up winning the Champions League in the 2019-20 season.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has some high praise for Haaland and Lewandowski
Rummenigge was an amazing player himself and played up front for Bayern Munich. The legend knows what it takes to be a great centre-forward for Bayern Munich, and gave Lewandowski the biggest compliment he could give.
“Lewandowski is the best centre-forward in the world, Haaland the second. I think Bayern must be interested in Robert staying beyond the end of his contract in 2023. Signing Haaland is a huge investment,” Rummenigge said.
