Looks like Sony is up for a pretty bumpy start to this new year. As it so happens, Sony will have to refund the price of a PlayStation Plus title in January. The title in question is ‘Maneater’, the popular ‘shaRkPG’ that released earlier this year. It released first on PS4, Xbox One, as well as PC, in the month of May.
From the house of Tripwire Interactive, the game attained quite a huge amount of popularity because of its concept, which is quite simple yet uncommon.
Maneater follows a unique storyline of revenge with a female bull shark as the protagonist. It is a survival game where players control this said female bull shark who has to survive in the ocean while feasting on fish and humans alike. The ultimate goal of the game is to kill the fishermen who killed the mother of this shark and disfigured her.
Now, with the release of the new-gen consoles, the title came to the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles as well. Being a popular title, many fans poured in to buy it. However, to their surprise, they saw that the game has been made available to PS Plus users for free as a part of the January lineup.
Reddit user u/BraeWhyit found out about this recently after buying the game. The user posted the details of this on the PS5 subreddit. Sony sent the refund to this user to his PlayStation Store wallet. The user also mentions that since he got to keep the original license, he has access to both ps4 and ps5 versions of the game.
PS Plus titles are usually available for free for a limited amount of time. However, Maneater will be available for free for people who have already bought the game and have received the said refund. Well, Happy New Year to them, we guess!
