How Did South Africa Come Out on Top?

India and South Africa gained 120 points for themselves. Therefore, on the basis of decimal points, India slipped to second spot. The Faf du Plessis-led South African side took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. That feat was achieved with the help of AB de Villiers’ 176 runs off 104 balls.

India claimed the top spot in the ICC rankings following their 4-1 win against Steve Smith-led Australian side. However, the Proteas won it back, following their wins in the first two games of the ODI series vs the Bangla Tigers.
