More hints were dropped on Fernando Alonso’s future, as a Formula E spokesperson revealed in an exclusive interview with e-racing365, that they have been in conversation  with Fernando Alonso. “We’ve been speaking to Fernando Alonso on a friendly and informal basis for a while and he’s always been very clear with us”, said the Formula E spokesperson.

“Hopefully he will take a closer look at our championship and appreciate how much drivers can make a difference in our races and then evaluate his interest on whether to join the pack”, he added. “It will then be up to teams to go after such a great talent, but he’ll always be welcome in our championship”, he said.

This comes after former driver and Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa voiced his opinion that he must make a move towards Formula E. “He was thinking about Indycar, but now I think Formula E may have a better chance of getting him”, said Felipe Massa.

“The Indy 500 is one thing, but for the championship I think Fernando may look at Formula E. It may be in a year, but I would not be surprised if it was earlier”, continued Massa, who himself has opted to go with Formula E after his departure from Formula 1. “It was the right time for me”, said Massa. “Not because I was not competitive, but if I had stayed this year, finishing last as Williams is, I may have said ‘hasta luego’ (see you later) after four races”, he added.

Rumors suggest that the Formula E boss, Alejandro Agag, may have offered Alonso €10 million to race in the 2018-2019 Formula E series. “He wants to win Le Mans and Indy but then he will be missing Formula E. It would be a privilege to have him,” said Alejandro Agag, in his exclusive interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
