Stefanos Tsitsipas Says ‘Jesus Christ’ is His Favourite Nickname

The Greek lad, Stefanos Tsitsipas has several nicknames on the ATP Tour and reveals his favorite one. Recently, the Italian tennis player, Fabio Fognini called him the ‘Jesus Christ’ of tennis. The World Number six tennis player has nicknames such as ‘Stef’, ‘Tsitsifast’, ‘Saint Stephanos’ etc… He is also referred to as the ‘Blond Hercules’ of tennis.

“Fabio Fognini created a new nickname a few weeks ago at Laver Cup, he called me the Jesus Christ of tennis, I don’t how to take that, it’s quite interesting, I like it,” said Stefanos Tsitsipas. 

After his third-round victory against Aussie Alex de Minaur at the Rolex Paris Masters, Tsitsipas reached another milestone in his career as he collected this 100th tour-level victory. He has lost 60 matches so far on the ATP circuit.

The 21-year-old’s latest milestone’s rate was faster than the other top-ten players besides, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who hold 100-37 and 100-43 win-loss record after 100 wins respectively.

After his despairing defeat at Rolex Paris Masters 2019 to the World Number two, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be flying to London for the ATP World Tour Finals 2019. The Serb crushed the NextGen player under 58 minutes of time and later picked up his fifth crown in Paris Bercy.

“Tsitsipas a very good player, he has improved and he’s very professional and trains a lot,” Djokovic said after steamrolling over the Greek in Paris. “That reflects positively on his game. He’s one of the best players in the world, so I’m looking forward to that challenge.”

However, previously in China, the young breeze of tennis, Tsitsipas defeated the top-seed and the defending champion, Djokovic in the quarterfinals of Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019 and simultaneously, Tsitsipas reserved his berth at the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 in London.
