Stipe Miocic reclaimed his throne at the heavyweight not so long ago when he knocked out Daniel Cormier at Honda Center in UFC 241. However, that is not the end of the story between Miocic and Cormier. The battle for heavyweight supremacy will continue as these two fighters will step into the octagon for the third time to find out who the baddest man on the plane is.

There have been many crucial moments from the first two fights between Miocic and Cormier. Cormier knocking out Miocic in the first fight, Cormier dominating Miocic for the first two rounds in the rematch, Miocic going for the hard liver shots to drop Cormier in the 4th round are some of them. However, there is one more aspect of that fight that had some impact in both the fights, the eye pokes from Daniel Cormier.

Many fans believe that in the first fight the eye poke from Cormier played a big part in the knockout loss of Miocic. Now there is no way to find out how true that assumption is, but we do have the heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic addressing the eye pokes from Daniel Cormier.

“I don’t know whether it was intentional or not. But I looked at the ref, said watch the fingers. He(the referee) was like yeah No problem. And I literally got my eye pocked right in front of him. Are you serious? And then he hit me with a one and two. What is this real? Is he really hitting me after he poked him”.

Although Miocic is not blaming Cormier for the eye pokes, he thinks the eye poke in the first fight was not fine at all. Miocic expressed:
