T20 Blast 2019: Glenn Maxwell Seals the Deal for Lancashire

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who is currently featured in the T20 Blast for Lancashire has sealed the deal with his heroics with the bat (46-ball 73). Along with him, Matthew Parkinson took a three-wicket haul. They both helped the side to win the game by just 3 runs over Nottinghamshire where they finished with 148 for 9 while chasing 152.
Batting first, Lancashire’s huge total came on the back of Glenn Maxwell who scored a crucial 73, including 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Although Luke Wood, Samit Patel and Imad Wasim left Lancashire struggling at 35 for 4, Maxwell and Dane Vilas resurrected the innings with a 107-run partnership. Dane Vilas scored 46 off 36 which included four boundaries.

However, Maxwell didn’t have a great campaign in the recently concluded ICC World Cup where he scored mere 177 runs in 10 innings. His disappointing performance led him out of the Ashes squad. However, his current form will help him to get back to the Australia team very soon.
While chasing, Nottinghamshire needed 12 runs in the final over, with Daniel Christian unbeaten at 34. However, his heroics went in vain by James Faulkner, who dismissed Mathew Carter and Zak Chappell in successive deliveries. This ensured a thrilling win for his side where Glenn Maxwell took an easy catch.

Daniel Christian was the top-scored with 41 off 24, including one four and 3 sixes. Apart from him, Samit Patel scored 34, Alex Hales 29 and Tom Moores’ 18 had propelled Nottinghamshire to 96 for 3 in the 13th over. However, Liam Livingstone dismissed Moores and a batting collapse took place.
Lancashire continued their great form and placed at the top of the points table in the North Group with 12 points while Nottinghamshire placed third with 7 points.
