Alain Prost’s Net Worth, Salary and Endorsements

French former F1 driver Alain Prost is regarded as the legendary Ayrton Senna‘s greatest rival. He was offered a chance to race in the final race of the 1979 season for his debut, but declined.

After retirement, he entered a new team, Prost Racing, but never quite met success. In 2013, he joined the Renault e.Dams Formula E team and they went on to win the constructor’s title.

Prost remained with them until 2017 when he was hired by Renault as a special adviser for the Renault Formula One Team.

On-track Achievements

The Frenchman made his full-time debut in 1980 for McLaren, scoring points on his debut with 6th. For the 1981 season, he moved to Renault for three years, scoring a podium in his third race.

In the same year, five races later, he took a maiden win. ‘The Professor’, as he is fondly known, finished the season in 5th. His highest championship position for Renault was second.

In 1984, he returned to McLaren, partnering Niki Lauda. He finished as the runner-up once again.

A year later, he went one better and bagged a maiden title ahead of Michele Alboreto. Prost repeated the same feat in 1986, effectively taking back-to-back titles.

But then in 1988, a certain Ayrton Senna arrived at McLaren and the rivalry was afoot. That year, he ended the season behind eventual champion, Senna.

In 1989, the roles were reversed, with Prost winning and Senna in 2nd. Eventually, in 1990, Prost had had enough of putting up with Ayrton so he left to join Ferrari. He lost the title, in a dramatic and controversial fashion but the deed was done.

After sitting out in 1992, he came back and clinched the 1993 championship ahead of bitter rival, Senna.
