Nicknamed as the “Greek Freak,” Giannis Antetokounmpo has been one of those names to have spurred in the NBA circuit since his arrival in 2013.
Born in Greece to Nigerian parents, Antetokounmpo began playing basketball for the youth teams of Filathlitikos in Athens and then played for their senior team. He declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft in 2013 and was drafted as 15th overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, a team for which he has been playing since then.
Over that period, he has been an NBA All Star thrice, was awarded the Most Improved Player and only in 2019, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
In 2016–17, he became the first player in NBA history to finish a regular season in the top 20 in all five statistics of total points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, after leading the Bucks in all five major statistical categories.
