Former World Number one tennis player, Karolina Pliskova was born on born 21 March 1992, in Louny, Czech Republic. She was the 2010 Australian Open junior champion. Presently, she is coached by her coach Daniel Vallverdu.

Pliskova plays aggressive, she hits powerful strokes, has an accurate serve and beautifully executes serve-and-volley on the tennis court. She has drawn a salary of USD 19,512,518 from the WTA Tour.

She has an identical twin sister, Kristyna Pliskova, who is two minutes older and Kristyna is also a tennis player. They do play doubles tennis together.

On court achievements

Pliskova has won 15 WTA singles titles and fives doubles titles in her career so far. She won her maiden WTA title at the 2013 Malaysian Open by defeating Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the final. In 2015, Pliskova was part of the Fed Cup-winning team.

It was her first Fed Cup title, she won both her singles and doubles match in the finals. In 2016, she won her maiden WTA Premier tournament at the Western & Southern Open, defeating Angelique Kerber in straight sets in the final.

Following that success, Pliskova reached the finals of US Open 2016. She defeated Venus and Serena Williams en route to the finals and later lost to Kerber in the championship match, despite winning the second set and being 3–1 up in the final set.

After reaching the semifinals at French Open 2017, in July Karolina Pliskova was ranked World Number one. She was the sixth player to reach the number one spot without having won a Grand Slam tournament. From the Czech Republic, she was the first female player to achieve that feat.
