The PS5 has a really powerful SSD that sets it apart from the Xbox Series X. With the help of this lightning-fast SSD, the games on the PS5 will have virtually no load times at all. This will deliver a great next-gen experience to gamers.

PlayStation 5 Expandable Storage

The next-gen console comes with an expandable storage option. This allows the players to have additional storage apart from the stock NVMe SSD. The expandable storage slot allows users to have an additional NVMe drive, which will increase the overall storage of the console.
As of now, there is no known list of compatible drives with the PS5. More information will be available closer to the launch date.

PlayStation 5 Backwards Compatibility

When the PS5 launches this November, more than 99 percent of the 4000+ games available on PS4 will be playable on PS5.
PS5 Digital Edition

  • You will be able to play digital versions of your compatible PS4 games on the PS5 Digital edition console. These will be compatible PS4 digital games you have already purchased or plan to purchase, via PlayStation Store on PS4, PS5, web, or PlayStation mobile app.

  • Since there is no disc drive, you won’t be able to play your PS4 disc-based games on the PS5 Digital Edition.
PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive

  • You can play digital versions of your compatible PS4 games you downloaded from the PlayStation Store on PS4, PS5, web, or PlayStation mobile app.

  • You can also use physical PS4 game discs.
