French tennis player Benoit Paire flew to New York with an aspiration to participate in the second Grand Slam of the year, US Open 2020. However, misfortunes struck the Frenchman as he tested positive for the Coronavirus inside the secured bubble of the US Open, and consequently, he was forced to withdraw from the tournament.
After withdrawing from the event, Paire criticized the US Open bubble. Fortunately, health-wise he has been doing well and has exhibited no symptoms, but he nuked the isolated bubble created by the USTA officials billing it as a ‘fake.’

World No. 22 was the first tennis player to test positive for COVID-19 inside the bubble. A few days ago, he was playing at the Cincinnati Open but retired from his first-round match due to sickness while trailing 6-0, 1-0 against Borna Coric.
At US Open, he was seeded 17th in the men’s draw and had a strong chance of mounting a real challenge for the top spot. However, everything fell apart once he was ruled out owing to the fatal malady.
He was replaced by the 34-year-old No. 134 ranked Spaniard, Marcel Granollers. He will be playing Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the first round of the US Open on Tuesday.

Kristina Mladenovic contacted Benoit Paire at the US Open 2020
Paire’s compatriot Kristina Mladenovic came in contact with him. Therefore, her movement has been restricted. She was practicing with Paire and also spent time playing cards with him.
“I am basically in a new ‘bubble in the bubble,’ so there’s not very much I’m allowed to do, which makes it tough for me to compete and mentally be kind of fresh and ready,” she said after defeating American Hailey Baptiste 7-5, 6-2 in the first round.
