As Caroline Wozniacki played the last game of her career at the Australian Open 2020, the tennis world bid adieu to a fine player getting to terms with her playing career.
Among many others bidding farewell to Wozniacki were the big-3 of the ATp- Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. In a video obtained from WTA on twitter, the three shared their farewell messages to the former World No. 1.
“You are a fantastic person, you’ve done so much for tennis. Your contribution is very positive to the game and the game will definitely miss you,” Djokovic said.

“I wish you and your husband, David (Lee), a wonderful life. Hopefully kids on the way as well. I hope to see you come and watch us play and have fun.”
“Caro, I don’t know how to say goodbye to you.“

An emotional Caroline Wozniacki bid adieu
When the match against Ons Jabeur came to an end, Wozniacki sat beside the court feeling the moment while Jabeur heaped praises of the Dane and the crowd kept applauding. Finally when it was Wozniacki’s turn to speak, tears came out as she thanked everyone for the support.
“I’d like to thank the fans, the support we feel on court is really amazing. Also the support I’ve had my from family, and especially my dad, who has coached me all those years,” she said, crying yet happy. “I usually don’t cry, sorry, those are the special moments I’ll remember. It’s been really amazing, a great ride. I really am happy, though, I’m ready for the next chapter.”

The match finished with a scoreline of 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 when Wozniacki’s forehand went wrong.
“I think it was only fitting that my career would end with a three-setter, a grinder and that I would finish my career with a forehand error. These are the things I have been working for all of my career,” Wozniacki said with a smile.
