The fundraiser event in Australia, Rally for Relief hosted an exhibition match between the greatest tennis players of all time. The event, Rally for Relief hosted Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Caroline Wozniacki, Nick Kyrgios, Coco Gauff, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Naomi Osaka, Dominic Thiem, and Petra Kvitova.
The exhibition event was accompanied by some amusing scenes on the court. Naomi Osaka was sitting beside Serena Williams and that moment was captured. Later she gave it a funny caption and posted, “Me and my mom lol.”
The event raised a massive amount of $4.8 million. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal donated $250k collectively from their pockets. Canberra-native Nick Kyrgios rolled the balled of raising money for the recent bushfires in his country. With his voice becoming viral, the bushfire victims have received substantial support from the tennis world.
Right after her first-title victory as a mother, Williams announced her Auckland’s prize money donated to the Australian bushfire relief funds. Also, all the dresses worn across her nine matches in Auckland are also put on auction.
The Serbian legend Novak Djokovic and the Spaniard ace Rafael Nadal teamed up to play doubles against the NextGen players Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. During the changeover of their match, Novak and Rafa jogged to their side of the court and whereas the other two were ambling. Upon seeing that the humorous Novak said, “See? NextGen, how slow they are? Unbelievable.”
