Stan Wawrinka is reaching the end of his illustrious tennis career. The 35-year-old has talked about retirement and is aiming to finish his career on a high. The Swiss player is looking for a final push, thus revealing big news regarding the 2021 Australian Open.

Wawrinka is playing some quality tennis right now at the Rolex Paris Masters. He is through to the third round after defeating Tommy Paul in three sets in the second round. In his post-match press conference, Wawrinka revealed some of his 2021 plans, which include a trip to Australia for the Australian Open.

“Yes normally, that’s what will happen, that’s what we planned and would like. As I said, we have to be very careful about what is happening now, the coming weeks and months. As I also said, we will focus on working as well as possible and be ready if we have the chance to play.”

With the coronavirus cases surging recently, Australian Open organizers are skeptical about the rules around the Grand Slam. The Australian government is yet to fix the quarantine duration for the Grand Slam scheduled to be held in January 2021.

Further, Wawrinka decoded his recent message on the potential end of his career. Wawrinka was hideous about his 2021 motives, and he mainly wants to perform at the highest level possible until the end.

“I can’t imagine any scenario. Everything is possible. All I want and want to do is be able to control what I can control which is how I train and prepare, be on top of my game for the day. ‘Next year. You can’t control the results. My goal is to do whatever it takes to get to the best possible level next year.”
