“The Dude’s Got a 4-2 Record”-Tony Ferguson Shrugs Off Potential Fight With Justin Gaethje

Tony Ferguson is up and ready to make an appearance at UFC 249. Who his opponent will be is undecided as of now.

The American sat down with Ariel Helwani to discuss UFC 249 and the current difficulties this event is facing. Tony Ferguson was originally supposed to face Khabib Nurmagomedov at the main event. But right now, Khabib may not be able to leave Russia owing to the current travel bans in place due to the Coronavirus. So where does this leave the fight?

In a surprising turn of events, Justin Gaethje has vocalized his availability. ‘The Highlight’ is ready to replace Khabib and fight Ferguson. However, Ferguson poked fun at Gaethje’s inexperience in the Octagon in terms of matches and said, “The dude’s got a 4-2 record man!

Tony further said, “When they stripped me off my belt, it was like a round-robin tournament. I had to fight everybody. I fought everybody that was in the top 5. Finished them. And here we go! I’m back in the same spot. I’m the F**king Champ!”

Tony Ferguson has been around forever. He was stripped of his interim title in 2018, but didn’t let this setback get to him. He reworked his way up the roster. And today, he proudly showcases his belt wrapped around his shoulder.

Tony Ferguson, being the relentless fighter that he is, said, “I’m Still doing my thing. I’m about to get down and dirty. Doesn’t matter who we have, we’re gonna try and make this thing go! So that at least some of the people in the world have some hope. If We can do a little bit on our part and make something happen, I’m down for that!”
