The Fittest Tennis Players Of 2019

The sport of tennis demands immense physical practice and tennis athletes do train for endless hours without their racquets to withstand the endurance during their matches and also to avoid their poor performances due to lack of fitness. The American sports magazine, Sports Illustrated has released a list of 50 fittest athletes in the world. And amongst those athletes, three of them turn out to be from the sport of tennis and which asserts them to be the fittest tennis players on the tour.  

1. Novak Djokovic

The Serbian, Novak Djokovic called off his 2017 tennis season due to his elbow injury and roughly 12 months after his layover from tennis, the World Number one tennis player is refusing to stop on the men’s circuit. His vigilant injury rehabilitation has helped him to hold his tennis racquets firmly.

He’s once again one Slam away from holding all four of them in a row and this year he also launched himself on the summit of tennis since the year 2016. He is considered to be one of the fittest tennis players on tour and he inculcates circuit, conditioning and resistance training in his regime. Novak Djokovic was ranked on fourth on the men’s list of fittest athletes by Sports Illustrated. 

Besides that, a healthy mind accounts also for a physically fit body, the Serb also takes measures to relax his soul to maintain his good trim. An individual’s mindset and fitness are closely linked with their diet. Djokovic is meticulous regarding the stuff which he is taking in. His gluten-free and vegan diet (Djokovic occasionally takes fish) has helped him to reach the apex of tennis and add Grand Slam titles to his name.

2. Serena Williams

Being one of the best players in tennis is difficult to achieve, and to become the greatest tennis player in the midst of pregnancy and breastfeeding is simply insane. She is one of the mothers on the WTA tour with the second-highest number of Grand Slam titles in the Open Era of tennis. Even after her pregnancy complications, the American, Serena Williams defined herself to be the fittest tennis players on tour and was ranked 10th on the list of fittest sportspersons.

She reached two major finals after delivering her first child and recently she stepped once again on the top ten rankings of the WTA ladder. Her workout routines are strenuous which aids her to maintain her physique and stay away from the injuries. During tennis seasons, she switches to a raw and vegan diet consisting of ample of nuts, beans, lentils, and sprouted quinoa.

3. Caroline Wozniacki

Last year, the Dane, Carolina Wozniacki removed the tag of Slam-less World Number one which was associated with her and later the same year, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis disorder just before the U.S. Open 2018. Nevertheless, she continued to fight on the tennis courts with her disorder. Despite her setbacks, Wozniacki has maintained her elite fitness and is ranked 22nd on the list of the fittest athletes globally. She incorporates boxing with a heavy bag which aids for toning and strengthening her arms and she also practices yoga. Apart from her arduous drills with her racquet, the Dane follows intensive a cardio endurance.
