The Scariest Knockout in MMA! Jose Johnson Lands the Most Brutal Elbow

The Dan Henderson landing the H-bomb on Michael Bisping, Edson Barboza’s spinning head kick against Terry Etim, Jorge Masvidal’s historic flying knee to Ben Askren, the sports of MMA has seen a ton of devastating yet entertaining knock out finishes. Well, make room for another KO, which has the potential to be one of the scariest knocks out in MMA history.

It was LFA’s debut event on UFC fight pass and the co-main of the night was a bantamweight bout between Jose Johnson(United States) and Rafael Costa(Brazil). It was the debut of Costa in a USA event and he took the fight on one week’s notice.

When Costa was going for a takedown, Johnson landed an elbow that made Costa fall on the ground, face-first. it is to be noted that, the elbow falls close to the vicinity of being called a 12-6 elbow, however, the officials decided the other way.

On his brutal knockout, Jose Johnson issued a statement saying:

“When it happened, I was like, okay, do your job. keep fighting until the ref tells you to stop. Afterward, I hope he is out there. Cause I have never seen someone fall like that. it’s like a life switch. Like you just turned off all the powers to the body.”

Jose Johnson was glad that he was not at the receiving end of the knockout. Although there was a little animosity between johnson and Costa before the fight after the fight was over both the fighters showed mutual respect in the ring.

“I think he made it worse. Because when most people get knocked out, everyone fell backward, but he felt forwards. Face first and the bottom part of the body came with it. I saw the replay on the screen and I was glad that it was not me.”
