In 2021, Bret Hart did an interview with 81 podcast, where The Hit Man made some brutal remarks about Triple H. The Heartthrob revealed HHH hated Rocky and wanted to ruin his career in WWE. Hunter even pitched an idea to strip Johnson of his Intercontinental Championship.

“When I did the big interview about America, the next week’s taping, I wrestled The Rock and they wanted me to beat him. Triple H did. He wanted me to beat Dwayne and win the Intercontinental Title. I refused. ‘What do I need the Intercontinental title for?’ (…) I remember Triple H was sick about it because he had a thing for Dwayne and wanted to ruin him. He hated him.” said Bret Hart. Jericho answered in the affirmative. Giving the example of Donald Trump, the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla said that one needs to be charismatic and camera-friendly to become a President, even if the person has no experience at all.
He also praised The Rock’s “work ethic, talent, charisma, and not taking no for an answer,” qualities that led to his “phenomenal success.”
