The Indian squad for the New Zealand test series starting on 22nd of September was announced yesterday. The heedless omission of Gautam Gambhir, who is going through a purple patch, ahead of out of form players like Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan raised many eyebrows. Gautam Gambhir, who is leading the India Blue side in the Duleep trophy has had a wonderful tournament and was expected to get a comeback call from the national side. His fans and many more cricketing greats were left shocked and horrified post this decision of the selection committee. The squad for the series saw omitting of the all-rounder Stuart Binny and uncapped bowler Shardul Thakur. While Stuart Binny had a forgettable WI tour, Shardul Thakur couldn’t make it to the playing eleven in WI test series. 33-year old Shikhar Dhawan is currently seen as the star player for Delhi Capitals. The Delhi-born man was one of the key players for the national team. Shikhar Dhawan's records include, the fastest ever debut century.
