Spain wins its sixth title at the Davis Cup 2019 as Rafael Nadal beat next-generation star Denis Shapovalov to give his country their second point in best-of-three series and secure a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Canada in the finals of the Davis Cup 2019 Finals on Sunday.
World No.1 Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut went undefeated in their singles rubber. In the first singles rubber, Roberto Bautista Agut clinched one of the biggest wins of his career over Felix Auger-Aliassime after losing his father just three days ago.

There was nothing to choose between the two in the opening set as the went till the tiebreaker as all the 12 games went with the serve till 6-6. Roberto Bautista Agut dominated the tiebreaker as he claimed the first set 7-6(3).
In the second set, Bautista Agut was all over the rising Canadian sensation as the Spaniard broke twice and was broken once to claim the set 6-3 and win a crucial point for his country as there were chants of ‘Roberto’ across the crowd at the Caja Magica stadium.

“It was very special, very special feeling on the court today. I could just go out on the court and give my best. I’m very happy that I could win the first point for Spain,” Bautista said in the post-match on-court interview.
In the second singles rubber, Rafael Nadal continued his unbeaten run at the Davis Cup as he claimed the 32nd consecutive match win at the event – which is also the longest undefeated (singles and doubles) run in the history of the tournament. The Mallorcan defeated Denis Shapovalov in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 to grab the Davis Cup 2019 title.

Nadal lost only one point on his serve till 5-2 in the first set and went onto win the opening set 6-3. There was very little to choose between the two in the second set as the games went with the serve till 6-6 and the set went till the tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Nadal squandered a championship point before saving a set point and prevailing the set 7-6(9-7).
Rafael Nadal, who is having one of the best seasons of his career, did not lose a single service game in the one-week event in singles and he did not lose a single match as he guided his country to the title.

It's mind-blowing that just two weeks ago at the ATP Finals, most of us thought Nadal wouldn't be able to finish that event, given the way he played against Zverev, and now he won 8 matches at the #DavisCup in just 6 days (didn't drop a single set in his five singles matches)!
