When Nick Kyrgios gets involved in some controversy or another, is anyone even surprised anymore? The temperamental Australian has been in the news for his antics more time than he in the news for his skills. Now, Kyrgios recently lost to Karen Khachanov in Cincinnati and felt that the chair umpire cost him. So, he called him out after the match and spat in his direction.

Then, during the second set, Nick Kyrgios began to rail against the chair umpire, Fergus Murphy, accusing him of starting the shot clock too early. The meltdown soon escalated to a new level as Rafael Nadal’s name was unexpectedly dragged in.

Afterwards, he refused to shake Murphy’s hand, had another temper tantrum and stomped off to sulk. This was not the first time the Aussie clashed with Murphy, and will certainly not be the last time either. Sometime during the match, Kyrgios asked for a bathroom break, was denied, but went anyway, carrying two racquets. He then emerged back on court with both racquets badly mutilated and possibly needing a funeral.

Meanwhile, a mildly amused Karen Khachanov simply decided to wait and watch the eventual implosion. The final score read, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-2 in the round of 32 of the Western and Southern Open 2019 on Wednesday.
