Twitterati Bashes Hardik Pandya for His ‘Disrespectful’ Birthday Wish for Zaheer Khan

Former India speedster Zaheer Khan turned 41 yesterday. He was considered as one of the key players for India and helped the team register win many times. However, Zaheer Khan received birthday wishes from the cricketing fraternity, including India all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

In the 92 Test matches that Zaheer had played in his 14-year international career, he bagged 311 wickets at an average of 32.94 with an economy rate of 3.27 and a strike rate of 60.4 including 11 five-wicket hauls. He had played 200 ODIs where he has 282 wickets in his name which came at an average of 29.43, an economy rate of 4.93 and a strike rate of 35.8.

Apart from these, he had played 17 T20Is and also played 100 IPL matches, the last was in 2017. Having played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League, Zaheer scalped 102 wickets at an average of 27.27, an economy rate of 7.58 and a strike rate of 21.56.

While everyone wished the veteran, the wish from Hardik Pandya made the headlines because of his disrespectful post. He tweeted a video with the caption, “Happy birthday Zak … Hope you smash it out of the park like I did here.” In the video it was seen that Hardik Pandey hitting a delivery off Zaheer Khan for a boundary and the game seems to be one between Baroda and Mumbai of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

On the othe rhand, both of them are part of the Mumbai Indians franchise of Indian Premier League. While Pandya has joined the franchise in 2015, Zaheer has joined as the Director of Cricket Operations from the last season of the tournament.

However, the wish didn’t go well with the fans and they started bashing at the all-rounder.
