UFC welterweight Vicente Luque will go to war at UFC 260 against one of the most decorated welterweights. ‘The Silent Assassin’ takes on Tyron Woodley in the co-main event of a highly anticipated pay-per-view card. The fight card is headlined by a heavyweight title fight rematch between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou.

Vicente Luque has faced the cream of the crop at 170-pounds and has etched some spectacular wins. Even in the losses he’s suffered, the Brazilian has always put forth a good account of himself. Chiefly, one particular win stands out on his resume even after several years and the KO has aged exceedingly well.

Let’s take a look an all-time classic KO of Vicente Luque that came back in 2012.

Vicente Luque vs Thiago Santos: A pre-UFC run in

Thiago Santos is one of the most feared light heavyweights on the roster today, and his highlight reel is legendary. ‘Marreta’ has challenged Jon Jones for the light heavyweight strap not too long ago and put forth an all-time great performance. Even though he’s currently on a losing skid, etching a win over Thiago Santos comes only to an elite-level fighter.

However, that’s exactly what Vicente Luque did all the way back in 2012 at Spartan MMA, a regional Brazilian organization. The bout took place before both men had their incredible UFC runs. In fact, one year after his loss to Luque, Santos found himself in the UFC.

The fight itself was an all-time highlight reel for The Silent Assassin’ who earned a TKO win in the first round. Luque showed great technical prowess and broke down Santos’ defenses in a systematic manner. What’s more, Luque’s famed hand speed was on full display as he went after ‘Marreta’ in a vicious fashion.

Although Thiago Santos arguably had a more successful UFC run to this point, the loss to Luque is one he’ll want to erase. Both men now fight at a different weight class, and it’s highly likely we’ll never see the rematch. However, there’s no question that on paper the fight will deliver on excitement and ferocity if it should be booked.
