Conor McGregor has been a very vocal advocate of self-quarantine. In addition, The Notorious One has been at the forefront of Ireland’s battle against the novel Coronavirus.
McGregor took to Twitter on 10th April to voice his concerns about the implementation of lockdown on Ireland’s borders. He is not the only one who has been talking about the issue of the arrival of UK-registered cars into Ireland via the ferry ports.
“The term “pissing against the wind” comes to mind here, men and women. Without closure of our ports, air, and sea (the birthplace of the spread into Ireland) what are we really doing? Lockdown? No. Afraid not.”- Conor McGregor in his first Tweet
However, this was not the only Tweet that McGregor put out in order to raise awareness about this issue.
“Ask of our airports as well as sea, @gavreilly. Not once has our airports (where the virus came from) been queried. We must have answers. We must see action. It is not too late! CLOSE OUR PORTS FOR ALL NON-ESSENTIAL, IMMEDIATELY!!!”- Conor McGregor in his second Tweet
Several doctors in addition to the UFC superstar have asked for the complete closure of traffic. This is mainly because the U.K. has no community testing for the Coronavirus.
“We must close our airports, we must close all non-essential business, we must cut all non-essential travel. Commissioner Harris and Vice-Admiral Mellett, we must prepare and deploy our units to all and any non-built up areas across our country.”- Conor McGregor in a previous video
The Dublin born and bred UFC fighter took to social media on the 27th of March to sensitive and advise people over the do’s and don’ts when it comes to Coronavirus.
“If you do not enter the game, you cannot win it. We have now entered the game and with strict adherence to the methods, we will win. Our defense forces have been mentioned as a possibility in assisting our 15,000 available Gardai [Police] but only if necessary. However, it is necessary.”- Conor McGregor said in a video posted on Facebook
