After their boxing match in August this year, Jake Paul offered Nate Diaz an MMA rematch with an eight-figure payout. The choice seemed a no-brainer for Diaz, who has been convincingly beaten in the ring and should have been practically salivating at the offer.
However, according to recent reports, the UFC legend has been dragging his feet after Paul officially agreed to the MMA rematch for a surprising reason. Khai Wu, Mark Zuckerberg‘s BJJ instructor, gave his somewhat surprising take on the whole celebrity and YouTube boxing scene on the ES Fancast with our own Noah Lack.

Khai Wu on YouTube boxers
Speaking to Lack on our exclusive FanCast, Wu was asked about his take on the celebrity boxing scene. Wu was supportive of figures such as Dillon Danis, Jake Paul, Logan Paul, and even Nate Diaz for elevating the whole boxing industry. He felt that these people were able to leverage their significant fanbase into paying for their fights. This, in his opinion, helped make boxing more popular and introduced it to their young fans.
“He is elevating the whole industry. You know what I mean because you are getting guys like him to do it and in more recent years, boxing is getting more more popular due to the fact that guys like Logan Paul, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz. You know they are getting into the real, Jorge Masvidal said something about potentially fighting in boxing next year. So, I don’t see it as a bad thing,”.

Why Nate Diaz will not rematch Jake Paul in MMA
Jake Paul fought Nate Diaz in a ten-round cruiserweight boxing match in Dallas on August 5. In a one-sided bout, ‘The Problem Child’ dominated Diaz on his pro-boxing debut. Paul was the more active and accurate fighter, and he even knocked the Stockton native down in the fifth round with a hard right hook. The YouTube star won the bout via a unanimous decision.

It was in the post-fight interview that Jake Paul offered Nate Diaz an MMA rematch for $10 million. And the reason Diaz seems hesitant and will probably not go forward with the MMA rematch is one simple reason. Paul wants the fight to be in the Professional Fighting League (PFL), a UFC competitor. Diaz has been open about fighting as long as he can. And the place he wants to do it is at the UFC, the world’s most successful MMA promotion. Fighting in the PFL would give it a boost. This might displease White and the UFC. And although it was not discussed in the exclusive FanCast with Wu, him being a PFL fighter and all, one would assume he would be all in favor of it.
