“All My Brothers Very Close”- Khabib Nurmagomedov Says One Other Person From His Team Has Proved Himself

Khabib Nurmagomedov is surely a legend in the world of mixed martial arts. The Dagestani fighter has remained unbeaten throughout his entire professional career of 29 fights. Many consider Nurmagomedov to be the best fighter in the promotion’s history.

‘The Eagle’ has beaten the likes of many outstanding fighters, including Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor, and Justin Gaethje. Even though Nurmagomedov has retired from fighting, he still is relevant in the industry. Khabib has taken up the role of a trainer for his team after the passing of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. 

Khabib has been mentoring and training his teammates from Dagestan. His teammates, Islam Makhachev, and Zubaira Tukhugov, have been very successful under his tutelage.

Islam Makhachev recently won his fight against Dan Hooker at UFC 267. He put up a spectacular performance in submitted ‘The Hangman‘ with a Kimura hold within the first round of the bout. His other teammate, Zubaira Tukhugov, also fought at UFC 267. He won his fight against Ricardo Ramos by a unanimous decision.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s YouTube channel often uploads videos of Khabib and his teammates. They show him behind the scenes, helping him train his teammates and preparing them for their octagon appearances. Recently, they uploaded a video of ‘the Eagle’ expressing his happiness on the performance of his teammates.

“It was a very important fight for Islam, it was a very important fight for Zuba. It was the second fight of the year. Like how can I say like? I was for Zuba, more than happy I was for Islam. Or for Islam, I was more than happy than Zuba. It’s very hard to say. It’s the same question, when you have three kids and you ask which one is you like most. Same thing. All my brothers very close. I’m very happy for all of them,” said Khabib.

“They did great job at training camp, they did great job in the cage. They did great on job cutting weight. I’m very happy for them,” he added.

Will we ever see Khabib Nurmagomedov back in the octagon?

Nurmagomedov was phenomenal to watch while he fought. Khabib went through the division with ease and absolutely demolished every opponent he faced.

After his fight with Justin Gaethje, Khabib told the world that he had proved himself as the greatest and announced his retirement from the sport. He said he made a promise to his mother that he wouldn’t return to the octagon after the death of his father.

Khabib is a man of his word and has turned down many offers that the UFC has given him to fight. Dana White tried to convince him as well, but the Dagestani wouldn’t budge. However, stranger things have happened in combat sports.
