UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski secured his second title defense in the main event for UFC 266. Alexander ‘The Great’ put forth an absolute clinic and clinched nearly all the rounds on all three judges’ scorecards. Chiefly, he was able to provide various looks and Brian Ortega appeared to be out of his depth for the most part.

The MMA community immediately lauded the fight as a potential Fight of the Year candidate and fans heaped praise on Volkanovski. However, UFC megastar Conor McGregor was one fighter on the roster who wasn’t impressed with his performance. He took to social media and let it be known that he would love to tango with Volkanovski under the bright lights.

It’s highly unlikely that Conor McGregor will make the grueling cut down to 145-pounds at this stage of his career. The probable way that the aforementioned fight gets booked is if Volkanovski decides to move up to the lightweight division.

Chiefly, this wouldn’t be an unfounded move since Alexander Volkanovski had a walking-around weight of over 200-pounds at one point. He has fought in the middleweight and welterweight division so moving to lightweight would be par for the course. Time will be the best indication as to whether either man takes some serious steps to make the fight happen.
