Conor McGregor always has a plan up his sleeves to break the opponent. Of course, team McGregor comes prepared for any battle before it actually commences. This time, perhaps Michael Chandler is in their crosshairs but the fighter isn’t fazed at all. Is it because he knows what they do?

Chandler and McGregor have been going at each other’s throats for a while. However, this is yet to reflect in an actual fight between the two. Now, questions are being raised on the fight ever happening. Will this distract Chandler from the fight? Here’s what he had to say.

Michael Chandler on team McGregor’s “stale” tactics

Michael Chandler recently appeared on The MMA Hour Show. He spoke with Ariel Helwani about the potential match-up and the mind games McGregor and his coach John Kavanagh like to play with opponents. Clearly, he had studied their usual game plan with all the social media and coverage they usually get.

“These guys (McGregor and Kavanagh) are very good at creating their own narrative and throwing little breadcrumbs out there that are just stale as heck and not even a mouse would eat them all right?” said Chandler. “So just remember when they say things, maybe it’s true maybe it’s not true.”
“I’ve seen Conor talk about other opponents, I’ve seen Conor talk about different dates, I’ve seen Conor you know completely dismiss me and act like the fight with me is not happening. These are all ways that these guys try to get inside of people’s heads. Unluckily for them your boy’s bulletproof.”
Chandler is well aware of McGregor’s tactics. Rumors about the fight not happening are afloat and everyone’s speculating something new over every new detail or hint dropped by McGregor’s team. It’s clear now that causing confusion is just the first step of the mind games.

Is McGregor really coming back?

The answer to this question is clear. Yes. He’s coming back. The bigger question is perhaps, when? Because the hinting and teasing for UFC 300 has been rather immense. But there is no clarity or certainty about him actually returning in April.

Meanwhile, McGregor is rather busy clashing with the Irish government over recent protests. He has been very vocal in calling the government irresponsible and in return, was allegedly being investigated over social media posts that could incite or stir emotions. Will he find some time to actually fight Chandler? What are your thoughts?
