Gable Steveson recently picked up a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since then, the 21-year-old has taken the MMA world by storm by showing a keen interest in joining the UFC. However, former double champ Daniel Cormier believes Gable shouldn’t come to the UFC right now.

An overnight sensation, Gable Steveson, is a phenom of a wrestler who can lend his developing talents to multiple sports. The Minnesota native reportedly has many options, including the NFL, the WWE, and even the UFC. In fact, owing to his age, Gable Steveson could choose to go back to college for another two years.

The UFC certainly seems interested in having Steveson on board, putting up a congratulatory post for the Olympian on their official website. A move to the UFC at this point could yield significant results for a young and malleable Steveson. But according to Daniel Cormier, that might not be the best decision.

” If I’m Gable Steveson, I’m going to the WWE first. I’m taking the Brock Lesnar approach. I’m going there, I’m building my name.” DC continued, “I’m getting built into a monster over there, and then I’m coming to the UFC, where immediately I’m at the top of the cards and immediately, I’m getting pay-per-view money.” The former Olympian stated, ” I’m the man and I bring that fan base with me”

DC’s advice makes sense in that Steveson will find it easier to transition to WWE coming from his freestyle wrestling background. That on top of the WWE’s massive fanbase will allow Steveson to better leverage his name against a UFC contract should he decide to make the move in the future.
