Being the only fighter to capture the middleweight title twice, fans were hoping to see Israel Adesanya get back to his winning ways last night in Saudi Arabia. However, Nassourdine Imavov proved too hot to handle for ‘The Last Stylebender’, as he’d knock out the former champion in just 30 seconds of the second round. While it was a bad day at the office for Adesanya, no one seemed more devastated than Demetrious Johnson.
‘Mighty Mouse’ was tuned in to watch his buddy ‘Izzy’s first non-title main event fight in over six years, as he shared a video of his reaction to the fight. When the second round commenced during the fight, Nassourdine Imavov landed a devastating right hand that floored Israel Adesanya, and in the video, Demetrious Johnson can be seen yelling at ‘Izzy’ to get up. ‘DJ’ said, “No! F**k. Get up Izzy, get up n**ga. F**K, f**k, Godd*mmit!” Unfortunately, Adesanya could not get back to his feet.
Despite the loss, Israel Adesanya showed tremendous sportsmanship, and that’s what earned him more respect from Demetrious Johnson, who was feeling bittersweet regarding how the fight ended. “Massive respect for Izzy, man. To go over there, shake the hand of the man who just knocked him out… Congrats to Nassourdine. I mean, I’m happy. I’m not happy. I’m f***ing actually mad. But I’m happy that he’s victorious,” Johnson added.
